X 3 coins , Pure Silver 3-Coin Set – Canadian Confederation Medals – Mintage: 1,000 (2017). Your three 10 oz. Pure silver coins are three important historical pieces commemorating Canadian Confederation. Each medal features a landmark along the path of Canadian history: Canadian Confederation of 1867, The 1927 Diamond Jubilee of Canadian Confederation, and the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation in 2017. The Canadian Confederation of 1867 Medal. Your first coin is a faithful tribute to the table medal’s original design by world-renowned engravers J. Wyon of London, England. Inspired by the rich medallic traditions of the 16th century, the design features allegorical representations of Great Britain and the fledgling Dominion of Canada. Britannia, Great Britain’s timeless allegory, is peacefully seated and is adorned with a helmet and armour. She holds a trident on her right as a shield ornamented with the Royal Union Flag rests on her side. A lion, the stalwart symbol of Great Britain, is seated at Britannia’s feet and is resting its head on her knees. Britannia is presenting a figurative representation of the British North American Act that reads CONFEDERATION. The 1927 Diamond Jubilee of Canadian Confederation Medal. Your second coin is a reproduction of the original table medal engraved by Raymond Delamarre. With arms spread wide to embody Canada’s official motto, A Mari Usque Ad Mare (“From sea to sea”), a robed female allegory stands with sheaves of wheat and clusters of maple leaves at her feet; behind her, a map of the Dominion of Canada features the markings of transcontinental rail links and the shield from the Royal Arms of Canada in 1927, the year of Confederation’s Diamond Jubilee (60 years). The obverse features the effigies of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt and. Her Majesty Queen Victoria by Leonard Charles Wyon. The obverse also includes the Royal cypher used by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and a cypher that was used by Queen Victoria. Each Royal cypher is ensigned with a crown depicted in a style specifically used by each monarch. The 150th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation in 2017. In the French version of O Canada, the poignant line “Ton histoire est une épopée” (Your history is an epic) alludes to the great lessons and legacy of our past. Marked by times of prosperity and hardship, peace and turmoil, triumph and tragedy, the last 150 years of history have shaped Canada’s identity and forged its reputation as a strong, innovative, steadfast and hopeful nation. Canada is the very personification of this, as well as the embodiment of our ideals. On the coin’s reverse, the allegorical figure carries the legacies of the Fathers of Confederation and the First Nations peoples proudly in her grip, stretching her arms wide to welcome whatever the future may bring. Standing before an imposing mountain peak, her steady but peaceful resolve alludes to the ability of Canadians to rise up and meet any challenges we encounteras we have time and time again, for this our story.
