The reverse design by Royal Canadian Mint Engraver Marcos Hallam recreates the familiar shape of a maple leafspecifically that of the silver maple (Acer saccharinum) species. Here, the coins unique shape accentuates the palmate leafs beautifully serrated edges. An intricate series of deep veins are rendered with finely detailed engraving, as they run through each of the leafs five pointed, tapering lobes.
