This 99.99% fine Silver Canada 4 Coin set is made and certified by the Royal Canadian Mint. They represent the Large Canadian Boreal Forest and animals within. Each coin has a weight of 15.87 gm and a diameter of 34mm. They were designed by Aboriginal Artist Corrine Hunt. BOREAL FOREST- represents the world’s largest ecosystem, 60% of Canadian landmass and houses 80% of Canadas Aboriginal peoples. United Nations declared 2011 to be the year of the Boreal Forest. The coin depicts a stylized kingfisher patiently overlooking a pine tree. Four ovoid shapes- symbols of regeneration – line the ground and the ends of the tree branches, representing the forests cycles of life, death and rebirth. Reflection of the forest in the water below completes the circle of air, land, and water. PEREGRINE FALCON – large unblinking eye and forward stance reveal the hunting instinct and readiness of the predator. The ovoid form in center of chest represents birth and rebirth – return from edge of extinction – due to control of DDT. ORCA WHALE – hunts in groups of 3 doz and passes its knowledge to the young. Numbers are threatened by pollution and habitat loss. The or a is breaching from sea to air, its 2 domains. A ovoid form represents the many generations of the community in which the Orca thrives. WOOD BISON – once dominated Western Plains until they were almost hunted to extinction by Europeans. Their population has increased due to conservation efforts. The stylized wood bison bows its massive horned head to the ground to graze or in preparation for battle. Inside the hump is an ovoid – a symbol of life representing the seed of the future. The coins, crystal covers, cases and boxes are in excellent condition.
