This is the first time IN HISTORY that a Candian Maple Leaf has been struck at the Royal Canadian Mint facility in Ottawa. Historically, the Winnipeg facility has struck only mass-produced, circulating coinage. In order to expand striking capabilities to Winnipeg, the Mint actually had to fly specialists from Ottawa to Winnipeg in order to retool the presses and get them ready for striking collector coinage. A burnished finished means that each planchet is carefully burnished to a smooth satin appearance before striking. This first day of production NGC label is signed by Susan Taylor, retired Senior Engraver at the RCM. The 2020-W Burnished Maple Leaf has a total limited mintage of ONLY 10,000. Only 511 have been designated first day of production by NGC. This is not a pre-order. We have the coins in-hand.
